Trump Attacks “Sneaky” Feinstein Over Testimony Release

President Trump lashed out at Sen. Dianne Feinstein on twitter for unilaterally releasing the complete transcript of an interview between congressional investigators and the founder of Fusion GPS, the opposition research agency that commissioned the controversial file on Trump in the course of the 2016 campaign.

In a tweet, Trump referred to the the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee as “sneaky” and stated her release of the more than 300-pages of interviews between Glenn Simpson and Judiciary Committee lawmakers and attorneys was “possibly illegal.”

Trump additionally called for Feinstein to face a primary challenge in her reelection campaign in 2018.

“The fact that Sneaky Dianne Feinstein, who has on numerous occasions stated that collusion between Trump/Russia has not been found, would release testimony in such an underhanded and possibly illegal way, totally without authorization, is a disgrace” continuing “Must have tough Primary!”



Trump will most likely be dissatisfied. As The Hill explains, a challenging primary is unlikely as California’s primary system rewards the highest two finishers, no matter party affiliation, and Feinstein’s only notable challenger at this level is a Democrat.

That stated, the California Democrat’s release of the Simpson interviews caught Republicans unexpectedly and offered explosive new particulars that each parties will look to make use of  their benefit within the myriad of investigations happening on Capitol Hill surrounding the Trump campaign, Russia, the FBI, and the Department of Justice.

As reported last night, the file has been central to these investigations, with Democrats claiming it to be a roadmap to alleged collusion and corruption by Trump whereas Republicans and Trump’s inner circle insisting that it is filled with unverified claims that the FBI may have used to improperly to secure a warrant to spy on Trump’s campaign and transition.

And speaking of Russian collusion, Trump also tweeted his anger “the single greatest witch hunt in American history” and demanded that Republicans “take control” of the Russia investigations.
