Sen. Rand Paul Promises To “Oppose And Filibuster” Renewal Of Controversial Spying Provision

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is the Senate’s leading opponent of the status quo regarding federal spying. Although the issue has fallen by the wayside to a certain extent since Edward Snowden’s leaks in 2013, Paul continues to fight for the privacy rights of Americans. He has announced his intent to filibuster the extension of illegal spying. “I will actively oppose and filibuster any long term extension of warrantless searches of American citizens,” Paul said in a tweet earlier this week. The program that Paul is referring to in his tweet was authorized by Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance… Keep Reading

Senate Will Attach Controversial Surveillance Power Renewal To Must-Pass Legislation

Congress has had a difficult year with a great deal of infighting, both across parties lines and within party lines. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is calling for former National Security Advisor Susan Rice to “testify under oath“ after reports broke indicating that she used her power to spy on President Trump’s associates during campaign season. “I don’t think we should discount how big a deal it was that Susan Rice was looking at these, and she needs to be asked, did President Obama ask her to do this? Was this a directive from President Obama? I think she ought to testify under oath on this,” Paul said, according to a Hill report. “I think she should be asked under oath,… Keep Reading

#TakeCTRL Campaign Encourages Libertarians To Work Locally Against Illegal Surveillance

Despite the fact that Snowden did not necessarily receive a great reception from the box office, that hasn’t stopped clever activists from capitalizing on the hoopla from the epic film. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has spearheaded a coalition to honor Snowden’s heroic sacrifice to work locally to stifle Big Brother. The Tenth Amendment Center released a report about the #TakeCTRL campaign against the surveillance state that went live today: “As part of the Community Control Over Police Surveillance (CCOPS) initiative, today local government officials in 11 cities announced plans to launch legislative efforts to pass ordinances that will take… Keep Reading
