Why Do Presidents Need To Visit National Disaster Sites?

Whenever a natural disaster occurs, there seems to be this unanimous idea that the President of the United States should tour the disaster site. Whether it be the site of a horrific hurricane or a terrible tornado, the chief executive of the country is expected by the media and political pundits to make a visit.
