Long-time FOX News correspondent Lt. Col. Ralph Peters is the new darling of the liberal media after throwing his employer under the bus for its usually favorable coverage of President Donald Trump.
“When prime-time hosts — who have never served our country in any capacity — dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller — all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of ‘deep-state’ machinations — I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove,” Peters wrote in an email. “To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit.”
While Peters is acting high and mighty, a disgraceful appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight from last year paints a different picture of the former serviceman. During that interview, Peters appeared hysterical and unhinged while calling for World War III with Russia for no reasons in particular.
“You sound like Charles Lindbergh in 1938 saying Hitler hasn’t attacked us,” Peters told Carlson.
Carlson was taken aback by this ‘grotesque’ comment and replied, “You just up compared me to a Nazi apologist because I asked the question. Which is, why does it contravene American interest with a common cause with a group trying to kill ISIS?”
Peters ignored Carlson’s logical remarks and stated the following: “He invaded his neighbors, broken the long peace in Europe, assassinates dissidents and journalists, he bombs women and children on purpose in Syria, he is as bad as Hitler. If you don’t like the Charles Lindbergh [comparison] — I will retract that, but you sound like someone in the 1938 saying what has Hitler done to us?”
This is when Carlson brought up Peters’ long-standing record of being dead wrong on matters pertaining to foreign policy.
“I would hate to go back and read your columns assuring America that taking out Saddam Hussein will make the region calmer, more peaceful, and America safer, when in fact it has been the opposite and it has empowered Russia and Iran, the two countries you say you fear most — let’s be totally honest, we don’t always know the outcomes,” Carlson said. “They are not entirely protectable so maybe we should lower that a little bit rather than calling people accommodationist.”
Despite the mainstream media spin, it appears that another disgraced neocon is taking his ball and going home after humiliating himself completely. The swamp is being drained, even at FOX News, due to the Trump effect.
