Make America Great Again? Not if the billionaire oil tycoons Charles and David Koch have anything to say about it. They are bankrolling open borders Democrats in the 2018 mid-term elections, jilting a Republican Party that they had backed for many decades.
The Koch-funded LIBRE Initiative is putting substantial money behind Democrats for November’s mid-term elections.
“This stands out. People when they talk about the Koch network … they point at areas like tax reform, where we’ve worked very closely with Republican members,” said Wadi Gaitan, a spokesman for the LIBRE Initiative, to NPR. “Here on this issue, we have Democrats where we want to make sure that their constituents are aware that they are working on a permanent solution for DREAMers and on border security. So it certainly is a unique effort.”
The Koch’s and their hired goons are trying to paint this betrayal in the rosiest of terms as they hope to keep GOP allies under their umbrella even as they openly bankroll the enemy.
“Even when Congress agrees that action is required, members tend to focus on petty differences rather than getting the job done,” wrote James Davis, who works as a senior official for the Koch network, in a CNN op-ed. “Our fervent hope is that even isolated agreements won’t just advance good policy but will also help tear down the walls of mistrust and bitterness that have degraded our politics and turned Americans against one another.”
The LIBRE Initiative plans to send out mailers to over 100,000 homes in favor of legislators who support amnesty for illegal immigrants and other measures preventing border security advocated by Trump. Democratic Reps. Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico, Democratic Reps. Raul Ruiz and Pete Aguilar of California, and Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware are some of the lawmakers being promoted by these mailers.
“Thank you Sen. Coons for supporting a permanent solution for Dreamers,” one mailer reads. “More than 90% of Americans want protection for the Dreamers.”
The Koch brothers oppose Trump’s electoral mandate because they want: open borders for more cheap labor in order to boost their corporate profit margins; globalist trade deals that destroy US sovereignty while outsourcing well-paying jobs to other countries; and an end to the populist upheaval that is changing the face of GOP politics.
David and Charles Koch, despite painting themselves as forward-thinking reformers, are among the most powerful oligarchs spending their money to protect the Washington D.C. status quo.
