Trump Blamed For Canadian Mosque Attack

On Sunday, a white supremacist entered the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Centre and opened fire on a group of Muslims engaged in evening prayers. This comes just days after President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order restricting immigration from several middle-eastern, Muslim countries.

In the shooting, which occurred Sunday night, five people were killed and more were wounded. Just like the Charleston church shooting, the perpetrator of which I will not mention by name, this heinous crime was motivated by bigotry, plain and simple.

The Charleston shooter shot and killed nine black churchgoers inside Emanuel AME church in 2015. His attack raised criticism of the Confederate flag, as he was seen on social media posing next to it with firearms. It’s worth mentioning, however, that the shooter didn’t have same affinity for old glory. Pictures surfaced showing him spitting on and burning the American flag.

The first line of attack by the left in any shooting scenario is simple. Go after the guns. Unfortunately, this shooting occurred in Canada, which had much stricter gun laws than the United States. Canada has in place stringent gun control including background checks, mandatory registration, waiting periods, an assault weapons ban, and a five-round capacity limit for most rifles. So, this is not an adequate straw man in this situation.

This attack came on the heels of President Trump’s executive order severely restricting immigration from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen for 90 days. This list of countries was derived from the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act, signed into law by President Obama in 2015. The countries on the list include state sponsors of terrorism, countries with radical Islamist governments, and war-torn areas.

According to a Quinnipiac poll, a majority of Americans actually support Trump’s action, but the left is losing what’s left of their minds nevertheless. Nancy Pelosi, Tim Kaine, Chuck Schumer, and most other Democrats have publicly denounced the order, equating it to violating founding principles and even the holocaust. Even the ride-sharing service Lyft, which I will no longer be using, has sent an email to all of its users, saying:

“This weekend, Trump closed the country’s borders to refugees, immigrants, and even documented residents [not true] from around the world based on their country of origin. Banning people of a particular faith or creed, race or identity, sexuality or ethnicity, from entering the U.S. is antithetical to both Lyft’s and our nation’s core values. We stand firmly against these actions, and will not be silent on issues that threaten the values of our community.”

It seems as if they have taken a hint from nutjob TV host Keith Olberman who told Americans to address President Trump as, “Just Trump, never President, just Trump.” In addition, Lyft has donated $1 million to the ACLU to fight the order. It doesn’t sound like the board of directors would approve of alienating a plurality of Lyft’s user base, but when conservatives haven’t yet tired of winning, the left is relegated to virtue signaling rather than virtue.

Regardless of the semantics, the left is already blaming Trump for the attack. Twitter and Facebook have exploded in vitriolic hate directed towards the President, blaming him for the attack. Perhaps Trump’s rhetoric about radical islam may have emboldened those who have hate in their hearts. It would not be difficult to extrapolate his comments denouncing fundamentalist Islam to include all the mostly moderate North American Muslims who reside in Canada, but it’s clear that Trump is not the one at fault here.

The problem with this line of attack is hypocracy. As it turns out, the left had a much more difficult time putting two and two together when a black racist inspired by Black Lives Matter killed five cops in Dallas over the summer. Of course, when a Republican says something that could remotely be seen as motivating a violent attack, they are blamed instantaneously. However, when Black Lives Matter shouts, “Fry ’em like bacon,” and, “What do we want? Dead cops!” its much more difficult to connect the dots.

Correction: The Liberty Conservative previously reported that the shooting was perpetrated by two islamic terrorists. This story was revised when new and more accurate information became available.

  • Jihadist attack? Does this mean Muslims committed this? Or the mosque belongs to those who believe in jihad?

  • knew that was going to happen
