Trump Administration Set To Pull United States From Globalist Climate Agreement

One of former President Obama’s signature achievements is set to be completely nullified. President Donald Trump has alerted EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and other officials that he intends to withdraw from the Paris Climate deal.

Trump wrote in a Tweet that was published yesterday, “I will make my final decision on the Paris Accord next week!” Although Trump is still playing it coy publicly, his private plans are apparently far different. He is planning to seize upon his “America First” mandate pertaining to the environment, and eschew the arbitrary carbon caps manufactured by globalist elites.

The Obama administration had previously pledged under the Paris Climate deal that the United States would limit their carbon dioxide emissions by up to 28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025. United States carbon dioxide emissions are already declining sharply in large part due to increased energy exploration, casting even more doubt on the necessity of this agreement.

“It’s a bad deal for America,” Pruitt said about the Paris Climate deal on “Fox Business” last month. “It was an America second, third, or fourth kind of approach. China and India had no obligations under the agreement until 2030. We front-loaded all of our costs.”

Climate change believers are worried that America’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate deal may ultimately sink the entire agreement. “There will be ripple effects from the United States’ choices across the world,” Texas Tech climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe said to the Associated Press.

If Trump continues with his plan to ax the agreement, larger countries such as China and India may be the next to follow. With those rapidly-developing superpowers following suit and throwing globalism to the wind, it would quickly destroy any chance of reaching a global consensus to prevent climate change.

“All signatories should stick to it instead of walking away from it as this is a responsibility we must assume for future generations,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said to the World Economic Forum in Jan. Time will tell if China changes their tune in response to Trump’s anticipated move.
