Bannon: Turkey “Biggest Danger” For The United States, Iran “Not Even Close”

Nationalist leader Steve Bannon slammed U.S. allies Turkey and Qatar in an interview with Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat on Saturday. “Turkey is the biggest danger for us,” Bannon declared. “No, not even close to Iran,” he continued, waving his hand in dismissal of the popular notion that Iran and North Korea are the greatest threats the United States faces abroad. “We don’t read well what is going on in Turkey right now, under [Turkish President] Erdogan,” Bannon said. “This is an issue I am going to pursue hard.” Keep Reading

President Trump: We Have Great Confidence In Greece As A Nation

President Trump hosted the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, on Tuesday afternoon at the White House for a joint press conference. After facing a major economic downturn, Greece is finally emerging from its eight-year financial crisis. The country is making efforts to execute its debt relief plan through increased investments and continued growth in its transportation and energy sectors. Tsipras stated that “we look forward to attracting U.S. investments” along with affirming that Greece’s friendship with the U.S. is still strong and “based on values that we jointly share.” The statement comes as a surprise due to Tsipras’ criticisms against Trump back… Keep Reading

U.S. Navy Fighter Jet Shoots Down Syrian Aircraft After Alleged Bombing Of Kurds

In a statement given by the Department of Defense to various media outlets, the U.S. military confirmed that a US F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet had shot down a Syrian SU-22 aircraft, which had allegedly bombed the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. “The Coalition does not seek to fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend Coalition or partner forces from any threat,” the Pentagon said. The Syrian Democratic Forces backed the U.S. claim, accusing the Syrian government of having “mounted large-scale attacks using planes, artillery, and tanks” against them. Keep Reading

If You Want To Make NATO Great Again, Kick Out Turkey

President Trump insisted throughout the presidential campaign (and even after being elected) that NATO was “obsolete”, mainly focusing on the fact that many of our European allies don’t put forward the appropriate proportion of their GDP toward their defense budgets and on the claim that the transatlantic organization doesn’t do enough to combat terrorism (the latter a far less fair criticism than the former, especially given the fact that the only time the group has invoked its Article 5 mutual defense provision was to assist the United States in the wake of the September 11th attacks). President Trump recently… Keep Reading

Meet The New Boss Same As The Old Boss

“On the very first day of 2016, news agencies reported a bizarre story out of Turkey. At a press conference, President Recep  Erdogan referred to “Hitler’s Germany” as an example of the political system he proposes for his country — “a presidential system with a unitary state.” Hitler had his Reichstag and Erdogan his staged coup as he is following Hitler’s lead to a T.  We can see the same kind of aggressive recklessness in  Erdogan’s shoot down of a Russian Jet and support of ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria and saber rattling with Greece and Armenia.  Turkey does not have… Keep Reading
