Cruz: “I Am One Of The Most Libertarian Members Of The Senate”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) called for keeping of the government out of the bedrooms of consenting adults in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.  Following recent controversy surrounding an explicit video being ‘liked’ by Cruz’s official Twitter account, CNN’s Dana Bash asked the Senator whether he thought that it was ironic, given that he had defended a ban on the sale of sex toys in Texas as the state’s Solicitor General. Cruz responded by downplaying it, accusing the mainstream media of running stories that are “totally false”. He went on to explain that he was merely doing his job… Keep Reading

Even In Texas, Diversity Warriors Hurl Racist Accusations At Conservatives

Even the reliably red-state Texas is being subjected to insane diversity battles at its colleges. A case in point occurred at Texas A&M University, with the focus of the debate concerning a retreat designed to provide a “support system” for incoming freshmen. The location of the retreat, Fish Camp, has since time immemorial been organized “to welcome freshmen into the Aggie family by sharing the traditions and values of Texas A&M University and creating a universally accepting support system that allows them to build relationships and embody the Aggie spirit.” But despite this laudable purpose, Hispanic student Cynthia Mendiola has… Keep Reading

Culture Wars Within The Heart Of Texas

When I was growing up in probably the reddest of red states, Texas, it was as easy to spot someone from Austin as it was to spot an NRA member, whose concealed handguns forced one to rely on their conversation rather than whether they were packing or not. Within one minute, it was apparent where the latter stood, courtesy of their hyper-aggressive views. Equally quick and equally aggressive was the unrequested political stances bellowed by Austin residents, whose home city was a leftist stronghold in a state of reliably rock-ribbed Republicans. A common example of such instant identification occurred when… Keep Reading

Texas Freedom Caucus Flexes Its Muscles

New players are now on the scene in Texas politics. The Texas Freedom Caucus, founded by members of the Texas House of Representatives dedicated to carrying out the will of liberty-minded Texans, is beginning to flex its muscles in the Texas State legislature. Texas Freedom Caucus members, led by pro-gun champion Jonathan Stickland, recently made their presence felt by killing more than 100 local and uncontested bills in short order. Such an unprecedented move was largely in retaliation for House leadership’s failure to address critical pro-liberty legislation during the 2017 legislative session. Keep Reading

Texas Voter ID Misruling

Federal judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos – on a mission to “persist” perhaps – ruled last week that Texas’ voter ID law not only discriminates against minorities and/or the poor and/or the “disenfranchised” – but does so intentionally. That the judge was appointed by former President Barack Obama probably has nothing at all to do with her myopic legal views or her contrived and misguided ruling. It’s unfortunate that ideologically driven judicial rulings attempting to satisfy a political agenda continue to remain obstructions to justice and the expressed will of the people. For the past ten years, voters elected Republicans to both houses… Keep Reading

The Voluntary Gold Standard: Realizing Sound Money Through Decentralization

Because of the enduring legacy of Ron Paul, most liberty-minded individuals understand the importance of sound money in relation to freedom. It is now a well-understood fact that a government stripped of its power to print money is necessarily a limited one. That is why the cause of liberty and the gold standard go hand-in-hand. The conundrum that we as liberty conservatives face right now is understanding how to reach our noble mission in a prudent manner. We know where we need to go, but we just haven’t quite figured out how to get there. Looking at our dismal monetary… Keep Reading
