You Can Be In Favor Of Policing Reform Without Being Anti-police

The past week has been tough for those of us who support law enforcement, but are also in favor of policing reform. Early Tuesday morning, video emerged of an incident in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in which a black man named Alton Sterling was killed during an altercation with police. Sterling was armed, but many believe the shooting–which took place at point-blank range while the officers were attempting to arrest Sterling for selling CDs–was excessive force, considering the videos did not show that Sterling reaching for the weapon. Following the shooting in Baton Rouge, video went viral of the aftermath of a police involved shooting in St. Paul, Minnesota. The shooting involved a man named Philando Castile who was carrying a concealed weapon–something he had a license to do–and was shot while sitting in his vehicle during a traffic stop that originated over a broken taillight. Castle’s girlfriend, whose Facebook livestream of the moments following the shooting went viral, claims that Philando told officers he was carrying the weapon and… Keep Reading

Orlando Nightclub Victims Of Radical Islamic Hatred

It is tragic that once again, innocent victims succumb to the violent hatred of homegrown radical Islam. While we are still learning all the facts, it is clear that the gunman not only supported ISIS, but swore allegiance to the terrorist group, and acted as a radical Islamist, as he phoned 911 prior to carrying out his attack that resulted in the death of 50 people and an additional 53 people injured. Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old U.S.-born citizen, has been identified as the suspect in the worst mass shooting in American history that left scores dead and more than 50 others wounded at the Pulse Orlando, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. That he chose to use guns to carry out his violent jihad on a nightclub serves only to illustrate the depth of his hatred – he could easily have used a suicide bomb to cause many more casualties. Blaming guns for the violence not only fails to recognize the nature of the hatred, violence and nihilism inherent in radical… Keep Reading

Muskets, Militia And The Second Amendment

“We need to do this every day of the week and just really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way.” – Eric Holder, former U.S. Attorney General   There has been a Gun-Free Zone shooting every day of President Barack Obama’s second term. It has become yet another hallmark of Omerica. And now he’s calling for national “gun safety laws” to stop “gun violence” in America. Many Politicians and pundits point to “assault rifles” and “high-capacity magazines” and insist they don’t belong in a civilized society. Back in the 1970s, they said the same thing about “Saturday Night Specials” in New York City. Gun control zealots will target firearms whether they carry 30 rounds or 5 bullets in a snub-nose revolver. And they’ll come up with scary names. Then they trot out the nonsense statistics and scenarios. “You have a greater chance of having a gun taken and used against you than if you don’t have a gun.” Really? Well, what chance do we have to… Keep Reading
