Rand Paul: I’ve Spent More Hours With The President Than Any Other Senator

Sen. Rand Paul has preemptively thrown his support in the 2020 presidential race to incumbent President Donald Trump, during a Sunday interview with MSNBC with Kasie Hunt where he opened up about his close relationship with the President. Rand Paul noted that while he had opposed Trump’s position on numerous issues over the past few months, “we still have a very good relationship because I don’t attack him personally”. Paul criticized the “high-mindedness” of Republican Senators such as Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), and Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), who choose to “condemn the President’s character”, despite being far from… Keep Reading

Flake Hints At 2020 Presidential Primary Challenge, Corker Indicates Support

Moments after U.S. Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) made a controversial speech on the Senate floor on Tuesday where he disavowed President Donald Trump, announced his decision not to run for re-election, and his desire to use his remaining year in the Senate to take on the President, he made clear on an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN on Tuesday that he was considering a 2020 presidential bid. Asked whether he could challenge Trump in 2020, Flake repeatedly refused to rule out the prospect, merely noting that 2020 is “a long time away”. “Certainly, I didn’t support the president in the last… Keep Reading

Mike Lee: “I Turned Out To Be Wrong” About Trump, “Keep It Coming”

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) admitted he made a mistake in opposing Trump’s 2016 presidential bid during a Tuesday Q&A session at the Young America’s Foundation National Conservative Student Conference. Asked whether Lee had received backlash from the Republican Party as a result of his past opposition to Trump, he stated, “I took a position at the time that was taking place because I had certain ideas about whether he could get elected – I didn’t think he could.” “I turned out to be wrong,” he continued. “In so far as he fights to restore constitutionally limited government, I will be… Keep Reading

Sanders Challenged By Democrat Who Blames The Senator For Trump’s Win

Disgruntled Democrats have blamed Hillary Clinton’s decisive election loss to Russian hacking, and, among other reasons, on FBI Director James Comey. But Jon Svitavsky blames Clinton’s Democratic challenger during the primaries, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for Trump’s victory. “I hold him absolutely, centrally responsible for Donald Trump being president,” Svitavsky said. Svitavsky, a Clinton supporter whose energies are usually devoted to championing the homeless, is channeling his anger against Sanders by entering politics for the first time and running against him–even though Sanders has not yet made his campaign for re-election official. Svitavsky also blames Democrats for allowing the self-described Independent… Keep Reading

Rep. Thomas Massie: Trump Has ‘Exceeded Expectations’

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) suggested to the Washington Examiner on Friday that he is pleased with Trump’s progress so far, echoing his previous remarks in an interview with Breitbart. Referring to his colleagues in the House of Representatives, he said, “I think [Trump] has probably exceeded their expectations, frankly.” Massie then repeated his prior praise of Trump’s action on the TPP, and accused his colleagues of not giving Trump enough credit for the move. “You don’t hear that mentioned much because probably a lot of Republicans weren’t with him on that, and none of the Democrats want to give him credit for it.” Keep Reading
