SPLC: Dallas Ambush, Orlando Shooting “Right Wing Terror”

The highly politicized Southern Poverty Law Center keeps a list of “Terror From the Right” attacks. SPLC describes the list as a “detailed listing of major terrorist plots and racist rampages that have emerged from the American radical right.” Included on that list are Dallas police shooter Micah Xavier Johnson and Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen. Mateen, a security officer from Florida, opened fire inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, FL. He killed fifty individuals, including himself, and left scores more injured. Rumored to be a gay former patron of Pulse, Mateen called 911 during the attack, making references to Allah and pledging allegiance to ISIS. It was the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11 and the most lethal mass-shooting in our history. Then-presidential candidate Donald J. Trump responded to the attack by delivering a scathing speech, one of his best ever, in which he denounced radical Islam as “anti-woman, anti-gay, and anti-American.” Indeed, many on the right shared in his harsh criticism of radical Islam’s… Keep Reading

In The Wake Of Orlando: What Gun Laws Actually Make Sense?

The recent shooting in the Orlando, Florida LGBT nightclub was tragic and heartbreaking, not just for the LGBT community, but for anyone in America who felt solidarity and actually gave a damn. But as usual, the afterglow of tragedy was swiftly upheaved and manipulated for political argumentation – never mind the fact that the blood hadn’t even cooled; the suits in Washington felt it necessary to stand on the graves as soapboxes and promulgate yet another anti-gun push. President Obama stated that same day during his press conference what a shame it was that the “type” of gun used in the shooting was so easily, legally accessible. The “type” of gun in this case was an AR-15, which, if one actually knows knows a thing or two about guns other than the fact that they shoot bullets, will be recognized right away as a semi-automatic weapon – the same as a common handgun. But the AR-15 is bigger and scarier-looking, and so the government mouthpieces in the media can count… Keep Reading

Where Donald Trump Went Wrong

“Donald Trump has no chance at being the next President of the United States.” That was the consensus when Donald Trump started his campaign exactly one year ago, when he was polling around 2% nationally. Today, Trump has outwitted, outlasted, and outmarketed (that’s the most important one) every other contestant in this year’s Presidential race. All but one of course: Hillary Clinton. When polling began against Hillary Clinton, Trump was at 33%; Clinton at 53%. Today, Trump is at 38% and Clinton is at 44%. These numbers aren’t too important, especially when looking at the race a handful of months out. However, Trump’s 38% is noteworthy. In the past 12 months, Trump has never gone below 38% in a national poll against Hillary Clinton, except at the height of Ted Cruz’s challenge to Trump in the Republican primary this past April. Take out Ted Cruz, and Trump hasn’t fallen below 38% nationally at all. This might be a bit opinionated, but listen to the division in everything Donald Trump… Keep Reading

The Day America Died

The Orlando, Florida shooting at a gay nightclub in Florida this past weekend saw a influx of political response from numerous candidates running for office. While each offered their own unique way of coming to terms with the tragedy, every response seemed to offer a divisional characteristic inherently present in our political system. It is important to remember the victims of the Orlando shooting for not only being victim to the horrendous acts of worthless ISIS supporters and sympathizers around the world, but also because they have become victim to the dilemma of governmental action to prevent future tragedies from occurring. As recent as today, democrats in Congress staged a filibuster to advocate stricter gun control, while the Republican Presidential frontrunner and presumptive nominee considered the expansion of governmental surveillance lists. This is what tragedies have become now: tools of the political elite to advocate an expansion of government power that it doesn’t have the authority to hold. So when is enough, enough? We’ve witnessed what happens when the… Keep Reading

America Doesn’t Have a Gun Problem

The reason the Founders enshrined the Second Amendment in the Constitution was because they understood that the inherent dignity and worth of the individual person expressed itself in the concepts of “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” An inherent part of Life and Liberty is security and the right of self-defense. We are endowed by our Creator with the desire for liberty and safety, and thus, have the right to hunt for sport and for food, and most importantly, to defend ourselves in the case of attack, threat to ourselves, our family and our property. The surest way of accomplishing this is to acknowledge, uphold and enforce the inalienable right that individuals have the right bear arms. In America, the most common expression of this fundamental human right is gun ownership, and although they represent a small percentage of guns overall, sporting rifles (or as the alarmist media labels them, “assault rifles”) are a popular choice for enthusiasts, sport shooters, and responsible gun owners. One of the most… Keep Reading

Orlando Nightclub Victims Of Radical Islamic Hatred

It is tragic that once again, innocent victims succumb to the violent hatred of homegrown radical Islam. While we are still learning all the facts, it is clear that the gunman not only supported ISIS, but swore allegiance to the terrorist group, and acted as a radical Islamist, as he phoned 911 prior to carrying out his attack that resulted in the death of 50 people and an additional 53 people injured. Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old U.S.-born citizen, has been identified as the suspect in the worst mass shooting in American history that left scores dead and more than 50 others wounded at the Pulse Orlando, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. That he chose to use guns to carry out his violent jihad on a nightclub serves only to illustrate the depth of his hatred – he could easily have used a suicide bomb to cause many more casualties. Blaming guns for the violence not only fails to recognize the nature of the hatred, violence and nihilism inherent in radical… Keep Reading
