Trump’s Libertarian Budget Director: “I Don’t Care What You Do In The Privacy Of Your Own Home”

OMB Director Mick Mulvaney strongly stressed his libertarian leanings in a recent interview with the Washington Examiner. According to the Examiner’s Alex Pappas, Mulvaney ‘said he considers himself in the libertarian wing of the party’.  Mulvaney then went on to say, “I’ve always come from the sort of the school of thought that I don’t care what you do in the privacy of your own home.” Mulvaney also mentioned that his staff had been working closely with Senior Advisor to the President, Stephen Miller, to turn the Trump campaign’s “policies into numbers”. Miller is widely seen as a close ally of White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, so this may be promising for grassroots conservatives who are hoping that Trump sticks by his anti-establishment, ‘America First’ platform. Mulvaney Testifies That Trump’s Pro-growth Policy Will Help Balance The Budget

Today, the Senate Budget Committee heard testimony on President Trump’s 2018 Budget. Today’s witness was Mick Mulvaney, director of OMB. Each Senator had five minutes to ask questions about the proposed budget. Most Senators chose to make long statements for the cameras. Very few questions asked by either side were made in an attempt to actually understand something that they did not already know. One of the leading issues raised by the minority party was that Trump assumed 2.9% growth each year for the next 10 years. Almost every Democrat Senator mentioned this issue and how irresponsible it is for Trump to assume such an aggressive growth rate. They argued that if this nation does not experience 2.9% growth each year for the next 10 years that Trump’s budget will not actually balance in 10 years. These Senators found it hard to believe that this nation’s economy can grow at 2.9% each year. Keep Reading

Mulvaney Answers Congress’ Questions About Trump’s 2018 Budget

Former Congressman and House Budget Committee member Mick Mulvaney returns to the House Budget Committee today to testify on the details of Trump’s 2018 Budget. Mulvaney returned as the director of Office of Management and Budget. Before the hearing started, one could see Mulvaney casually talking to various members who he had served with just a few months ago. During the over three-hour hearing, Republican committee members praised the Trump budget for its vision to balance the budget within 10 years. Meanwhile, every Democratic member gave long grandstanding demonizing speeches as to why their pet government project (several of which Congress has not authorized in several years) was seeing a reduction or elimination of funds. If you were to listen to the Democrats, one would assume that without government assistance, most Americans would have no place to live and would starve to death. Even some Republicans could be seen whining about some special interest spending that was getting cut. Keep Reading

Democrats Are Winning Even Though Trump’s Appointments Are Being Confirmed

Senate Democrats have shut down the Trump administration. Even though Republicans hold a majority on the Senate floor, Democrats have been able to stop Trump’s political appointments. As President, Trump is entitled to make over 1,200 political appointments that must be approved by the Senate. Thanks to former Senator Harry Reid, it only takes 51 votes to break a filibuster. However, under the Byrd Amendment, after the filibuster is broken, 30 hours must elapse before the final vote can occur. On Monday, February 6, the Senate started the current marathon session. By Saturday, the Senate will have only been able to clear four of Donald Trump’s cabinet picks, Betsy DeVos, Jeff Sessions, Tom Price, and Steven Mnuchin. This means it will take until the end of the month before Trump’s cabinet is finally in place. At this rate, it will take 1,500 days to approve all of Trump’s political nominees. For your information, the first term of the Trump administrative is only 1,461 days. These 1,200 political appointees do… Keep Reading
