Ivanka Pushes President Trump To Hire Trump-Hater John McCain’s Wife

Cindy McCain, the wife of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), is joining Trump’s State Department as the “U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights”, according to a report by The Daily Beast. Her appointment was pushed by Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, who had been impressed by Cindy’s work on humanitarian issues, which Ivanka is focusing on as part of her role as Assistant to the President. This demonstrates the sheer level of influence Ivanka continues to wield over her father. As a Manhattan socialite, Ivanka is deeply involved with a plethora of metropolitan liberal causes, which appear to be far removed from the concerns of Trump’s disgruntled, working class base. So far, she has sought to push the administration to the left on the environment, feminism, parental leave, refugees, and health care. Keep Reading

Neocons Gloat After President Trump Bombs Syria To Weaken Assad Regime

Neoconservatives could not be happier after President Trump bombed Syria last night in a retaliatory measure against President Bashir Al-Assad for alleged chemical attacks that were released on video for the world to see. “This is the challenge of Bashar al-Assad and then we’ve also got ISIS, so we’ve also got ISIS so we’ve got a long way to go,” Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said to MSNBC. “But, the signal that was sent last night is a very, very important one.” McCain wasn’t the only neocon jubilant with the prospect of more war. His great friend and fellow militarist Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was also delighted with Trump’s unauthorized and extrajudicial military strikes. “Unlike the previous administration, President Trump confronted a pivotal moment in Syria and took action. For that, he deserves the support of the American people,” Graham said in a press release. He went on to champion further measures that would decimate the Assad regime, and create a situation similar to what occurred after American intervention in… Keep Reading

Sen. McCain Fumes As Syrian President Receives Vote Of Confidence From Trump State Department

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has indicated that regime change is no longer the official policy regarding Syria, where embattled President Bashar Al-Assad is fighting a civil war against ISIS and other Islamist factions. This is a serious departure in policy from the Obama/Hillary/Neocon doctrine of nation-building and extreme militarism, and Sen. John McCain is far from pleased. Although the Trump Administration is boosting drone strikes in the Middle East and actually has boots on the ground in Syria, that is not enough to satisfy McCain’s longing for war. In addition to the Trump regime furthering America’s overseas presence, McCain demands aggressive belligerence toward the Syrian regime as well. Keep Reading

The Deep State Attempts a Coup

Hitler’s 1923 coup attempt, best known as the Beer Hall Putsch, was only a nominal failure. The immediate result was his arrest, trial, and conviction, though his sentence was barely carried out. The long-term effect was to inspire in him the belief that power is best achieved through engagement with the ruling regime and existing democratic apparatus. Ten years later, his goal was accomplished by way of his legitimate but coercive ascendancy to the Chancellorship and the implementation of the Enabling Act. World War II put an end to his ambitions but Hitler’s prowess in actualizing his aspirations within the machinations of the state remains a blueprint for tyranny to this day. Things have changed since then of course, but often only aesthetically and in the arrangement of events; the deep state actors of America’s shadow government have perfected the Fuhrer’s sinister model without the pomp and circumstance and rituals of democratic processes. The faceless spooks of the intelligence community, the unelected career bureaucrats of various departments, and the… Keep Reading

Why Rex Tillerson Gives Neocons Heartburn

Donald Trump announced this morning that he will nominate ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State. But Trump can’t expect to get Tillerson’s nomination through the Senate without a fight. In the days leading up to Trump’s official announcement, the Senate’s leading neocons – Lindsay Graham, Marco Rubio, and John McCain – all expressed opposition to Rex Tillerson. Tillerson also received critical coverage from leading neoconservative publications including the National Review and the Weekly Standard. So what is behind neoconservatives’ opposition to Tillerson?
