Trump Fends Off “Showboat” Comey And The Federal Zombies

He pleaded the case of a loyal soldier, rather than forsake retired US Army lieutenant general Michael Flynn to the mercies of FBI director James Comey. And he asked for loyalty from the congenitally disloyal. You’ll agree: President Donald Trump is being indicted on technicalities and on personal style. Distill the president’s unremarkable actions, subject to a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, and it becomes clear that the establishment—for sensible people outside the beltway have dissociated from the Russia-collusion phantasmagoria—is indicting him on the plain, impolitic speech that catapulted Donald Trump from candidate to president. Trump is “aggressive and oblivious to the rules of engagement,” fumed CNN’s sibilant Chris Cillizza, formerly of the Washington Post. Correct. But was the language of combat you deployed, Mr. Cillizza, a Freudian slip? Keep Reading

Vladimir Putin Trolls The U.S. Deep State Yet Again, Offers Asylum To James Comey

Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be enjoying himself these days. With the United States political system in peril as Russian conspiracy fever takes hold, Putin cannot help but stir the pot from his home country. This time, he has done so by offering asylum to disgraced former FBI director James Comey. “If he continues to be persecuted in this connection, we will be ready to provide political asylum to him, he should know about that,” Putin said on “The Direct Line,” his annual televised question-and-answer program with the Russian people. Presently, Putin is giving asylum to famed NSA leaker Edward Snowden, who released groundbreaking revelations to the world showing the NSA’s true hacking capabilities. This made Snowden a hero to millions and a villain to millions more. Comey is a less divisive figure and has even served to unite bitter political enemies in shared mutual hatred toward himself. Indeed, it is difficult to think of a more universally reviled political figure than Comey in recent years. Keep Reading

Trump Administration Scrambles To Salvage Russian Diplomatic Ties In New Era Of McCarthyism

The Trump administration hoped to normalize relations with Russia after his predecessor’s diplomatic failures reignited a Cold War of sorts, but the sore losers in the Democratic Party are intent upon keeping the countries at odds with each other. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is trying to repair the damage, but it is a tall order. “Today our relationships with Russia are at a very low point so the President asked me to begin a re-engagement process with Russia,” Tillerson said during a diplomatic visit to New Zealand. Tillerson was chosen as Secretary of State partly because of his strong connections to Russia. He was awarded Russia’s Order of Friendship medal in 2013 by President Vladimir Putin personally back when he was CEO of ExxonMobil. If anyone could mend fences at this point, it would be Tillerson. Thomas Massie: Push By Amash, Neocons, Democrats To Impeach Trump Is “Baloney”

While most Republicans are breathing a sigh of relief that FBI Director James Comey was relieved of his position, Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) is not among them. He has counteracted his traditional ally, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), to side with neoconservatives such as Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and demand an independent investigator to look into connections between Trump and Russia. Amash didn’t stop there. He has openly expressed his disdain for Trump, saying that he trusts Comey more than the President. He is even open to working with the Democrats on impeachment efforts if any revelations are uncovered. Amash’s concerns stem from Trump allegedly advising Comey to brush off an investigation of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. While the possibility of nefarious behavior conducted by the President may trouble Amash, Massie summed up his colleague’s worries as “baloney.” Keep Reading

Sen. Rand Paul: Democrats “Should Be Thanking President Trump” For Firing James Comey

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is ecstatic with President Trump’s move to fire former FBI Director James Comey, and is calling out Democrats who bemoan Comey’s dismissal as partisan hypocrites. “I don’t think there’s been any facts presented that anybody broke the law. … I don’t think there’s any evidence that anybody broke the law,” Paul said while appearing on a “Fox & Friends” broadcast this morning. Democratic leaders such as Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) have been forced to admit publicly that all efforts to find evidence of Trump colluding with Russian interests to unduly influence last year’s Presidential election have yielded nothing substantial. This has not stopped the Democrats from crying foul after Comey’s release though. “[Democrats] were for getting rid of Comey too, but now they’re gonna say it’s all about this Russia investigation, which hasn’t produced one iota of evidence,” Paul said. He called the talk of Russian involvement in last year’s election a “huge myth” fabricated to undermine the President. Keep Reading

Rep. Amash Flirts With Conspiracy Theories, Suggests New Investigation Over Trump’s Russian Ties

Suspecting some sort of nefarious cover-up or conspiracy, Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) is looking into investigating President Trump’s ties to Russia after he publicly fired former FBI Director James Comey yesterday. “My staff and I are reviewing legislation to establish an independent commission on Russia. The second paragraph of this letter is bizarre,” Amash said in a May 9 tweet. Amash took umbrage with the following words from Trump’s dismissal letter to Comey. It reads, “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to affectively lead the bureau.” Amash is jumping on the Trump/Russia conspiracy bandwagon just as prominent Democrats are admitting that there is no evidence indicating that any wrongdoing occurred. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) were forced to own up to the fact that their prolonged wild goose chase is backed by zero evidence. Keep Reading

As The White House Turns: Comey Is History, McMaster Is Reportedly On The Outs

It’s never a dull moment in the Trump White House. As rival factions within the administration continue to butt heads, the casualties are beginning to mount. Embattled FBI Director James Comey was officially relieved of his duties today, and if tensions continue to mount, national security advisor H.R. McMaster may be the next to get the axe. “While I appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation,” Trump wrote in a public letter addressed to Comey informing him that he was terminated. “I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.” Trump’s decision was accompanied by a public statement from Attorney General Jeff Sessions laying out the groundwork for Comey’s immediate dismissal. If reports can be believed, McMaster’s days may be numbered within the Trump administration. A Bloomberg report indicates that although Washington D.C. loves McMaster, Trump is quickly souring on the man. Keep Reading

FBI’s Trump-Russia Investigations Begin As Democrats Back Away From Allegations

FBI Director James Comey announced Monday that the agency will be pursuing an investigation regarding Russian influence on the last year’s Presidential election, including any possible collusion between the Kremlin and Donald Trump. This comes after reports that Democrats are backing away from their Russia claims. “I’ve been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election,” FBI Director James Comey said to the House Intelligence Committee. “That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts.” Keep Reading

Should The FBI Have Waited For Clinton Investigation Until After The Election?

Every election has its defining moments where the flow takes swift turns and everything changes. This year had a number of those moments and they were especially important, given how critical of a cycle we had this year. The successor to President Barack Obama is critical, because it comes down to upholding his legacy or undoing it. Hillary Clinton, a one-time election opponent of the President, would represent a continuation of the liberal agenda. Donald Trump, a political newcomer and lifelong businessman, would represent a departure from many of the President’s key policy points. For this reason, many argued that the Federal Bureau of Investigation should have stayed out of the election. Keep Reading

The Libertarian Republic Covers For Hillary Clinton, Downplays FBI Probe

As news that the FBI is re-investigating Hillary Clinton broke yesterday, most conservatives and liberty-minded folks were jubilated by the news. However, one entity in the liberty blogosphere did not share that same reaction. The Libertarian Republic, a liberty-oriented news and opinion website, responded to the breaking news in a peculiar and contradictory manner. After initially reporting the story as it was, a very specious clarification article was produced that seemingly took the onus off of Hillary and her e-mails, painting the picture that Comey’s letter was much ado about nothing. The original article was written with the title of “BREAKING: FBI is Now Reopening Clinton Email Case” and gave a straight forward re-telling of the facts that were laid out during the day. “In a shocking turn of events, the FBI has announced they are reopening the Hillary Clinton private email server case,” the article stated. “According to a letter sent by FBI Director James Comey to congressional committee chairs, the re-discovery of ‘new emails…pertinent to the investigation’… Keep Reading
