U.S. Navy Fighter Jet Shoots Down Syrian Aircraft After Alleged Bombing Of Kurds

In a statement given by the Department of Defense to various media outlets, the U.S. military confirmed that a US F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet had shot down a Syrian SU-22 aircraft, which had allegedly bombed the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. “The Coalition does not seek to fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend Coalition or partner forces from any threat,” the Pentagon said. The Syrian Democratic Forces backed the U.S. claim, accusing the Syrian government of having “mounted large-scale attacks using planes, artillery, and tanks” against them. Keep Reading

Trump, The MOAB, & a Red Line Against ISIS

In 2012, President Obama laid down his now-infamous “red line” speech against Bashar al-Assad, warning that the use of chemical weapons by Syria would result in “enormous consequences” from the United States – consequences that America proved both utterly unwilling and unable to follow through on when Assad inevitably used chemical weapons against rebel forces near Damascus in 2013, killing many hundreds of civilians, including over a hundred children. But when Assad decided to wantonly use chemical weapons again in 2017 there was a new President in the White House, and, 59 Tomahawk cruise missile strikes against Al Shayrat airbase later, the message was sent (“Don’t gas babies…”) and a former president’s red line was finally enforced by his successor (albeit about four years after the fact). But it now seems that President Trump has laid down his own “red line” – this one against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). But unlike his predecessor, he seems willing to swiftly respond to provocation, as indicated by the… Keep Reading

Berlin Christmas Market Attack Again Shows Why Gun Control Is Not The Answer To Terrorism

Since the Twin Towers fell and the Pentagon was struck fifteen years ago, the United States has lived in fear of the global terrorist threat. As a result of the rise of militant extremism, former President George W. Bush launched the War on Terrorism to combat this threat. Despite this, terrorism, if anything, has grown worse. Across Europe, and even a few times in the United States, terrorists have struck. As the threat of terrorism remains prominent, how do we tackle this issue? The answer sometimes is hard to find, because the mainstream political discussion gets diverted by focus on the implements of terror and then hijacked by the gun control lobby. After the shooting in San Bernardino, California, many liberal partisans and members of the gun control lobby called for strengthening of gun laws. The problem there was that gun control was already strong in California, thanks to it being a strong Democratic state. Keep Reading

America Doesn’t Have a Gun Problem

The reason the Founders enshrined the Second Amendment in the Constitution was because they understood that the inherent dignity and worth of the individual person expressed itself in the concepts of “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” An inherent part of Life and Liberty is security and the right of self-defense. We are endowed by our Creator with the desire for liberty and safety, and thus, have the right to hunt for sport and for food, and most importantly, to defend ourselves in the case of attack, threat to ourselves, our family and our property. The surest way of accomplishing this is to acknowledge, uphold and enforce the inalienable right that individuals have the right bear arms. In America, the most common expression of this fundamental human right is gun ownership, and although they represent a small percentage of guns overall, sporting rifles (or as the alarmist media labels them, “assault rifles”) are a popular choice for enthusiasts, sport shooters, and responsible gun owners. One of the most… Keep Reading
