It Is Time For Trump To Deep-Six The Deep State

We live in interesting times, indeed. Some historians have compared the accidental Roman Emperor Claudius, who reigned over 2000 years ago, with Donald Trump. He was an old man for Roman times and replaced the young, charismatic lunatic in Caligula who was assassinated in office after going mad with power. Claudius was an outsider who was brought into power by the Roman Praetorian Guard who wanted to see political change from the corrupt Augustinian lineage. The Roman establishment had written off the stammering, limping “monster of a man” in Claudius, which is what may have saved his life in the ruthless power struggles of the Roman aristocracy. Claudius played the role of buffoon as a shrewd politician to distract and disarm his critics. Keep Reading

House Freedom Caucus Fights To Reform Secret FISA Courts

The House Freedom Caucus is gearing up for another political fight. This time, they are working to reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court. This is the secret court system that authorized ubiquitous federal surveillance on all Americans. “Government surveillance activities under the FISA Amendments Act have violated Americans’ constitutionally protected rights,” the Freedom Caucus said in a press release. “We oppose any reauthorization of the FISA Amendments Act that does not include substantial reforms to the government’s collection and use of Americans’ data.” Although the Freedom Caucus has not been specific as to what reforms they will ultimately push for, watchdog groups have outlined what needs to be changed in order to restore proper justice to the courts. “The FISA Court must change in at least two ways: it needs a true advocate for privacy and civil liberties in the court and it must have institutionalized, systematic publication of significant opinions,” Dia Kayyali wrote in an Electronic Frontier Foundation article. The War On Trump: A Guide For Conservatives, Libertarians & Liberals

Periodically, America experiences episodes of mass, hysterical contagion. What is “hysterical contagion”? A sociologist explains it as the spread of symptoms of an illness among a group, absent any physiological disease. It provides a way of coping with a situation that cannot be handled with the usual coping mechanism. For example, in 1983, girls in the West Bank fell ill, one after the other. Soon, all the schools and finally the entire community was engulfed, affected with the same symptoms. Arab doctors implicated the Israelis. But of course. The Israeli occupation had poisoned the girls by gas to reduce their fertility. When real doctors arrived on the scene to examine the neurotics; the girls were pronounced physically healthy. The frenzied behavior known as mass hysteria or hysterical contagion is well documented. The Trump-Russia “collusion,” “obstruction of justice” probe qualifies, with an exception: This particular form of mass madness involves a meme, a story-line, rather than the physical symptoms observed in the West Bank. Rumor recounted as fact for which… Keep Reading

President Trump Enables CIA Swamp Rats By Engaging In Torture Report Cover-Up

President Donald Trump has been plagued with deep state treachery since he assumed his role in the Oval Office, but that isn’t stopping him from doing their dirty work anyway. Trump is working to bury a scandalous Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) torture report that goes into serious detail about the agency’s record of illegal and immoral behavior. Trump is moving at the behest of Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), who stands at the helm of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), former intelligence committee chair, had previously ordered the report to be distributed to multiple agencies of the executive branch. She had hoped that the document would eventually be released to the public under the Freedom of Information Act, but Burr has other plans. “I have directed my staff to retrieve copies of the Congressional study that remain with the Executive Branch agencies and, as the Committee does with all classified and compartmented information, will enact the necessary measures to protect the sensitive sources and methods contained within… Keep Reading

The First One Hundred Days Is a Meaningless Metric

The first one hundred days of a new president’s presidency is a media gimmick created by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1933. I’ll skip right to the important part: It was a crock of shit then and it’s an even bigger crock of shit now. It’s an artifice meant to distract from more important things, such as the fact that the effects of policy-making often do not become evident until long after they are implemented. It took years for the deregulation of craft brewing to reap dividends and when it did Reagan’s economy took credit while Carter pounded sand. Like many (maybe most) bad ideas, NAFTA seemed like a good one at the time. The War on Drugs was supposed to usher in a utopia of peaceful streets and whole families; some forty years later it is an obvious failure built on lies. The point is, setting policy – good or bad – is a process, not an event. Roosevelt’s media gimmick is a snapshot of a bigger picture with… Keep Reading

Jeffrey “Deep State” Tucker Takes It On The Chin After #Vault7 Disclosures

Antifa sympathizer Jeffrey Tucker has really taken it on the chin this time. Despite being a self-professed anarchist, Tucker clearly likes his state deep. Wikileaks’ Vault 7 disclosures have made Tucker’s already indefensible position regarding the deep state look even more abhorrent. In a recent Daily Caller article, Tucker lamented the rise of Trump and floated the idea that the deep state might be better than the Trump administration. The shattering of the neoliberal consensus on global trade seemed to be his primary lament: “As much as we might hate the deep state…and I’ve written plenty against it…, we would be blind and dumb not to consider the possibility that something worse could come along in the name of overthrowing it. Every fascist dictatorship in history emerged in response to the real failures of socialism and bureaucracy. One leads to the other, as the history of interwar Europe shows… Donald Trump has made it a priority to overthrow the whole global-trade paradigm on grounds that ‘the nation-state remains the… Keep Reading

The Deep State Attempts a Coup

Hitler’s 1923 coup attempt, best known as the Beer Hall Putsch, was only a nominal failure. The immediate result was his arrest, trial, and conviction, though his sentence was barely carried out. The long-term effect was to inspire in him the belief that power is best achieved through engagement with the ruling regime and existing democratic apparatus. Ten years later, his goal was accomplished by way of his legitimate but coercive ascendancy to the Chancellorship and the implementation of the Enabling Act. World War II put an end to his ambitions but Hitler’s prowess in actualizing his aspirations within the machinations of the state remains a blueprint for tyranny to this day. Things have changed since then of course, but often only aesthetically and in the arrangement of events; the deep state actors of America’s shadow government have perfected the Fuhrer’s sinister model without the pomp and circumstance and rituals of democratic processes. The faceless spooks of the intelligence community, the unelected career bureaucrats of various departments, and the… Keep Reading
