Letter From England 3: The Puritan Hypothesis In British Politics

Charlie Elphicke is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Dover and Deal. This makes him my Member of Parliament. On Friday the 3rd November 2017, he discovered – via the media, he says, not from any official notification – that he was suspended from the Conservative Party, and that the Police had been asked to investigate him. No reason for this was given. However, Mr Elphicke’s name was on a confidential list, compiled by Central Office, and immediately leaked on social media, of politicians said to be unable to keep their hands to themselves. Nothing more has been said about… Keep Reading

Steve Bannon Offers Olive Branch To Libertarians, Limited Government Conservatives

Breitbart News Executive Director Steve Bannon has frequently offered criticism toward libertarians for being too concerned with the economy and not concerned enough about the nation or the culture. He echoed these familiar sentiments during a recent speech to the California Republican Party convention in Anaheim on Oct. 20. “This kind of Austrian School of economics, this kind of Ayn Rand, you know, where everything was about the economy. What was most important six weeks before the election — gotta see what the unemployment rate is, it’s GDP as everything,” Bannon said, saying these notions were “very dangerous.” “We are… Keep Reading

The Left Loves Mass Shootings

Hayley Geftman-Gold, recently fired from her job as Vice President for CBS New York, wrote on Facebook that she has no sympathy for the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas. This is the reason she was fired, and good for CBS to do the right thing in that regard. Since Geftman-Gold’s remarks, there have been a slew of similar statements posted by private citizens who seemingly have no fear of their candor causing any hiccups in their careers. The comments are a grab-bag of vapid hate speech, most of them are celebratory declarations and sanctimonious denunciations that have become… Keep Reading

The Conservative Case For Calexit

Should California Secede? That was the title of Michael Hiltzik’s November 29th article for the Los Angeles Times, and it is certainly a good question. Liberal left-coasters seem to be the most enthusiastic members of the “Calexit” lobby while many on the Right, including Jim Geraghty of the National Review, are downright dismissive if not wholly intolerant of the idea. We on the Right are an intellectually superior lot to our counterparts on the Left, and as such, we cannot afford to be as close-minded as they are. Let’s examine the idea of Calexit and see if it is something… Keep Reading

Trump Allies Set To Play Key Role In New British Government

Thursday’s general election in the United Kingdom, although a total disaster for the British Prime Minister Theresa May, will undoubtedly be seen as good news by President Donald Trump. The Conservative Party lost its majority in the House of Commons, forcing it to seek support from the socially conservative and deeply patriotic Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) from Northern Ireland. The DUP quickly agreed, signing a confidence and supply agreement to prop up the Conservatives providing their demands are met. The DUP has often been accused by the left of having ties to right-wing militias such as the Ulster Volunteer Force… Keep Reading

Thoughts On The Reagan Years And Trump

With all the talk of Trump abandoning his campaign promises (and I’m certainly upset about that myself), and the diminishing fervor for the “god emperor,” there’s another right-wing “sacred cow” that I would like to take down a few pegs, and that’s one that Mr. Trump himself mentioned idealistically in one of his speeches. Namely… Can we all just admit Ronald Reagan was a pretty crappy president? I don’t know, maybe it’s just because I’m, by my own admission, something of a “disgruntled liberal” whose views gradually turned rightward after being disillusioned with liberalism, but having noticed that mainstream American conservatism… Keep Reading

Heroic Nationalists Expose True Colors Of Craven Libertarians And Conservatives

After globalist liberal candidate Emmanuel Macron defeated his populist nationalist opponent Marine Le Pen in yesterday’s French run-off election, American “free marketeers” are rejoicing. The French people have lost their pride, given up their right to self-determination, and erased any semblance of national sovereignty. This is cause of celebration for cosmopolitan libertarians and conservatives, who are ecstatic that the status quo remains intact for their oligarchical masters. “The election of Marine Le Pen in France’s presidential election on Sunday would have been bad news for France, for the United States, and for the world,” Dalibor Rohac of the American Enterprise… Keep Reading

Don’t Let Them Silence You

A leftist narrative gaining a lot of momentum in our current climate is “hate speech isn’t free speech!”, which, in essence, translates to “this speech, that you use, is not protected by the first amendment”. Seems a bit…convenient. Challenge this narrative, requesting a definition of “hate speech” and you will most likely find out that “hate speech” just means anything with which they disagree. This is why they don’t view your speech as permissible or even defensible under the law (the very law which they do not understand). Liberals also own this narrative so they no longer see it valuable… Keep Reading

Heritage Foundation Shake-Up: Jim DeMint Out, Steve Bannon In?

A rumored shake-up at the Heritage Foundation has conservatives on high alert. Former Sen. Jim DeMint, a champion for conservative values while in the legislature, is expected to lose his post as Heritage President. A name floated as his potential replacement is White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, the controversial paleoconservative who previously served as CEO of Breitbart News. Adding more fuel to the fire was an exchange between FOX News journalist Chris Wallace and Heritage Action CEO Michael Needham this morning. When pressed by Wallace, Needham refused to deny rumors that Bannon will be the next Heritage leader. “There… Keep Reading

Liberalism As a Blind Faith Religion

In the book of Hebrews, chapter eleven verse one, the Bible defines faith as being the substance of hope in things unseen. Those of us who are skeptical of the claims found in supposedly holy texts know that this is only half correct; in addition to hope in things unseen, religious faith is the denial of that which can be seen. The evidence for a godless universe is abundant and has brought us to a day and age in which the concept of a supernatural creator may be dismissed with a quick reference to Occam’s infamous razor: The God Theory… Keep Reading

Trump Strategist Steve Bannon Abandons Tea Party Roots, Criticizes Freedom Caucus For Health Care Stand

After the Freedom Caucus stopped House Majority Speaker Paul Ryan’s health care bill from even receiving a floor vote, conservatives and libertarians were elated, but serious consequences may be on the way if White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon’s words are any indicator. Conservatives and libertarians hoping their health care victory would result in Trump embracing their agenda have reason to be concerned. Some very choice words made by White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon regarding the Freedom Caucus to the mainstream media cast serious doubt on the likelihood of an alliance forming between limited government advocates and the White… Keep Reading

Rothbard’s Revenge: The Developing Libertarian-Right Alliance To Crush Leftist Influence In Modern Society

The past week has been a wild one in the libertarian movement that resulted in a great deal of soul-searching and reflecting. With left-libertarians triggered and showing their nasty, totalitarian colors under the pressure, many rational libertarians are realizing that this poison must be removed from the movement post haste before even more damage is done. Anarcho-capitalist author and philosopher Christopher Chase Rachels has taken the lead in this valiant effort. In an apparent response to the growing acceptance of violence, harassment, and mob tactics by left-libertarians, Rachels is striking back. He drafted a manifesto for his new right-libertarian alliance… Keep Reading

Hypocrisy At The Heart Of The Left

There exists no dearth of outrage on the Left toward the perceived hypocrisy of President Donald Trump and the Republican Party at large. Mr. Trump, they remind us, was elected due to a number of campaign promises, not least of them was the pledge to “drain the swamp”, a not-so-thinly-veiled allusion to the pervasive influence of lobbyists and career politicians infesting the halls of power in Washington, D.C. Mr. Trump’s cabinet nominees, particularly Steve Mnuchin and Betsy DeVos, are stark examples in the minds of leftists that our president has broken his word. The Left is correct, from time to… Keep Reading

Face To Face With Liberal Indoctrination

Some time ago, I suggested that liberals have, by in large, lost their minds. This is based mostly on their denial of reality and their freakish hypersensitivity when confronted with criticism or ideas that differ from their own. They appear to be coming apart at the seams with nothing concrete to ground them, but I ended the article with the idea that perhaps they aren’t crazy and are merely suffering the ill effects of years of brainwashing. The indoctrination received by our friends on the left begins, for the most part, in the public school system where the chief virtues… Keep Reading

Did The Free Market Kill Coal?

Would you like to know my secret to turning my environmentalist friends into stalwart defenders of the marketplace? The answer is simple: coal. You would be amazed by the reversal in rhetoric witnessed right before your eyes, typically accompanied by a big dose of schadenfreude aimed at Appalachian people. The “free market killed coal” adage apparently qualifies as ironic humor in leftist circles. Never mind the tens of thousands of families, hundreds of communities, a plethora of near-bankrupt school districts, and so many others left behind in the wreckage of coal’s decline. They’ll laugh as states who have endured generation… Keep Reading

Seven Rules For Christian Battle

My people are generally conservatives, church-goers, traditionalists and home-schoolers, the sort of people who fear God and fold their underwear neatly — which means they are usually idiots on the political battle field. There are different standards, my gentle Christian friends, for warfare, courtrooms, and political elections.  You had better learn them.  Your enemies — as WikiLeaks and James O’Keefe have made clear — are willing to lie about you, question your motives, and bring the full weight of the law down against you, even if you’ve done nothing wrong.  Anyone who has watched Debbie Wasserman Schultz speak, for even… Keep Reading

OKCupid: Liberals Prefer Museums, Yoga, And Crying

The dating site OKCupid released a study entitled, “Words and Politics: How your vote influences your dating profile.” The study used users who self-identified as either a liberal or a conservative, then gather data based on word usage and responses to the dating sites questions. According to OKCupid: This analysis was gathered from 190,000 real OkCupid profiles. These users must have joined in 2016, been from the U.S., and indicated whether they were a “liberal” or a “conservative.” On average, these users answered about 140 questions and their written essays had about 1,000 characters. We do not know the context that… Keep Reading

No, Professor Gellers, Not All Conservatives At #YWLS2016 Are White

This week, Turning Points USA (TPUSA) brought over 400 conservative activists to Dallas, Texas for the 2nd annual Young Women’s Leadership Summit. The summit hosts high school and college students from 42 states, training conservatives to identify, empower, and organize for free markets and limited government. TPUSA has been one of the leading organizations for conservative activists. They have a strong social media presence and do extraordinary outreach to students. It’s hard to be a conservative on twitter without seeing fellow ladies of liberty using the hashtag #YWLS and #YWLS2016. Thousands of tweets have been sent out using these hashtags,… Keep Reading

The Libertarian Party Vs. Austin Petersen

On the night of the first ever nationally televised Libertarian Party presidential debate, myself and a small group of fellow writers, editors, and activists were invited by Libertarian Party candidate Austin Petersen to an after party of sorts in downtown New York City. It was history in the making – for the first time, national news had covered a debate between candidates seeking a nomination for this party, which was not one of the two viable political parties in the Republicans and Democrats (though if the state of those factions as of 2016 counts as “viable” today, I’m not sure… Keep Reading

Conservatism Resurgent: The World Turns Right

Across the globe, in elections in the United Kingdom, Israel, America, India, France, South Korea among others, the people have begun to rise up against the forces of authoritarianism, the forces of hatred and the forces of division, turning their backs on the leftist, secular, divisive ideology and the parties and the corrupt politicians – Socialists, Progressives, Liberals and Democrats – who represent it. Increasingly voters are turning right, returning to conservatism that harbors values and ideas that form the foundations of morality, ethics, liberty and freedom. In America, the Republican party benefited from the rise of the Tea Party – a grassroots response… Keep Reading
