Repeal And Replace Within Reach

Since the divisive passage of the ironically titled “Affordable” Care Act, the Republican Party has with earnest been attempting to both repeal and replace former President Obama’s signature legislation. For almost the complete duration of Mr. Obama’s two terms, such a mission was completely futile; there was simply no way he would have signed into law the substitution of his landmark triumph (I use the word generously) for an alternative crafted by his political rivals. Those days are over. In lockstep with efforts to undermine the ACA were cries from the Left that the GOP was unprepared to replace it, that they had no plan. The Democrats played upon the worst fears of the American public and, for the most part, were completely unsuccessful as evidenced by their humiliating losses in 2010, 2014, and November of 2016. The Desperate Left Flings Feces

The battle of ideas between the left and right wings of our nation’s politics has perhaps never been as bitter as it is now. And it is certainly well outside of our lifetime since the liberal side of the war has been so outmatched. Desperate for ammunition, the Left has taken to hurling handfuls of excrement in lieu of journalistic integrity. Yesterday morning, at Mother Jones, Kevin Drum published a piece titled, “Why Do Republicans Hate Obamacare?” The article peaked early when he started it with a cursory list of suspect accomplishments credited to the law, and it went downhill from there as he tip-toed around a few of the most minor problems with the ACA while ignoring the vast majority of the most troubling ones. Kevin didn’t exactly lie, but he certainly didn’t tell us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
