Under the pressure, the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) showed their true colors and buckled to ANTIFA leftists. Ann Coulter was scheduled to speak on Apr. 27 despite being canceled by UC-Berkeley, but that speech will no longer be happening because YAF pulled their support.
“I’m so sorry Berkeley canceled my speech. I’m so sorry YAF acquiesced in the cancelation [sic]. And I’m so sorry for free speech crushed by thugs,” Coulter said to her supporters on Facebook earlier today.
While the speech may have been canceled due to YAF’s lack of backbone, Coulter’s patriotic fans are not reacting in the same craven manner. Kyle “Based Stickman” Chapman, Gavin McInnes, Lauren Southern, and perhaps even Ann Coulter herself will be showing up in Berkeley to celebrate freedom of expression–with or without permission.
After a series of rowdy public brawls, the tide seems to be turning against the radical leftists. Progressive favorites Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have both denounced leftist attacks on freedom of speech publicly. The virulently leftist American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) even released a statement denouncing the behavior of ANTIFA and other extreme left-wing groups at war against free speech.
“For the future of our democracy, we must protect bigoted speech from government censorship. On college campuses, that means that the best way to combat hateful speech is through counter-speech, vigorous and creative protest, and debate, not threats of violence or censorship,” ACLU National Legal Director David Cole said.
The demonstration will take place on Thursday, Apr. 27 at Civic Center Park, which is located at 2151 M.L.K. Jr Way, Berkeley, CA 94704 at 2:00pm WST. Coulter even hinted that she may drop by to visit the rally and mingle with her supporters.
“I’m not speaking. But I’m going to be near there, so I might swing by to say hello to my supporters who have flown in from all around the country,” Coulter said in an email. “I thought I might stroll around the graveyard of the First Amendment.”
