Sen. Rand Paul On $1 Trillion Spending Bill: “Are Democrats Still The Minority Party?”

in News by

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is angry yet again at the conniving nature of his own political party. Congressional Republicans unveiled their omnibus spending bill this week, which appropriates over $1 trillion dollars in new spending. This gives a huge political victory to the Democrats, Paul claimed in his Breitbart op/ed published Tuesday.

“You’ll see it in the news as an “Omnibus spending bill,” when it should really be called “the Status Quo Protection Act.” President Hillary Clinton would have been proud of this bill,” Paul said. “It tosses out campaign promises as it continues to fund the military industrial complex and the welfare state.”

Under the new plan pushed by Republican congressional leaders such as Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the annual deficit would remain over $500 billion. Paul noted that mainstream media commentators have noted that the spending bill cannot be differentiated from Obama-era budgets, which were the most bloated in all of American history.

“Earlier this year, I introduced a budget that repealed Obamacare, froze all on-budget spending without making changes to Social Security, gave agencies time to prepare for new spending levels, and contained zero specific cuts to any government function so we could work together to prioritize spending. It did all this while actually balancing,” Paul said.

Paul’s prudent proposal fell by the wayside for a more conventional funding bill that maintained the status quo, and Democrats are already gloating as a result. Members of the House Freedom Caucus are peeved as well.

“Money goes to Planned Parenthood, as you said. Money continues to go to sanctuary cities, but no money for the border wall,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said in a CNN interview about the budget.

Despite the turmoil, Paul will continue fighting for the correct solutions even if they are not popular in the halls of Congress.

“We must meet our obligations, but we can do so while responsibly instituting reforms and embracing the change we promised the American people,” Paul said.

The budget passed shows that American Government is like a Heroin addict. They WILL NEVER stop increasing their dosage of spending and growing government until our economy collapses. If that’s what it takes, then I hope that our economy collapses and the rest of the world is shown how immoral and unethical American government and the citizens that are unwilling to overthrow this tyranny really are. No discipline, just lies from our leaders.
