Netflix’s ‘The Punisher’ Is Newest Hollywood Vehicle To Promote Gun Control Agenda

On Nov. 17, Netflix will debut The Punisher on its streaming service. Having already been foreshadowed in other Marvel programs, The Punisher is about a vigilante named Frank Castle who goes outside the law to dole out punishment to evil doers using military weapons. Leading actor Jon Bernthal indicated in a recent interview that the show will push a gun control agenda.

“I hope, more than anything else, that people will recognize the gravity of this problem, and I’m just hoping a dialogue will be opened,” Bernthal said during an interview with the USA Today.

Bernthal hopes that The Punisher will propagandize its largely American audience into accepting the need for the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution to be obliterated and for gun control to be enacted similar to Europe and other defenseless nations.

“My God, we have to start realizing there’s a serious problem here and we have to start opening dialogue on it and we have to stop being completely rigorous and steadfast in our political positions here,” Bernthal said. “Start addressing the problem and start opening our hearts and minds toward each other and we’ve got to start working on this.”

Bernthal claims that the show explores many different angles of the gun control debate, and hopes that his art opens people’s eyes to the necessity of the leftist anti-Constitutional agenda.

“Art, at its absolute best, can hold a mirror to society and can make society look at and question itself,” he says. “I don’t think it’s our job to answer those questions, but I do think it’s our job to make us ask the questions. If this show does that in some way, I think that’s a really positive thing.”

It may be positive in the eyes of leftists, but time will tell if action-starved viewers of The Punisher really want to be lectured about the need for gun control in the plot of a series that is supposed to be about an orgy of firearm-driven revenge.

  • Like Europe?
In Austria you can also own an AR15 🙂

  • It will tank to

  • Sam

    • How? Have any show runners actually read Punisher books?

  • I don’t even see new movies anymore. Or watch new television shows. Everything after about 2010 is too SJW/PC for my tastes. My favorites are from the 70s/80s anyway.

  • How is that even possible? The main character is always loaded for bear at all fucking times. Is this real life?

  • The punisher promoting gun control? That’s like Larry Flynt promoting sexual abstinence. The whole character is a ruthless vigilante who kills lots of bad guys with you guessed it GUNS.

  • I guess the next Ghost Rider film will promote motorcycle safety.

  • There’s nothing in this article that actually lends creedence to his “quotes” that the show explores the topic of gun control….

I don’t want liberal agrendas through this show either, punisher is my favorite hero, but I don’t see anything here worth writing an article about, as definitively as this article comes out to claim……

  • Seems like the wrong vehicle.

To be fair, Bernthal did not say that he ” hopes that The Punisher will propagandize its largely
American audience into accepting the need for the 2nd Amendment of the
Constitution to be obliterated and for gun control to be enacted similar
to Europe and other defenseless nations” At least not according to the quotes you gave as example.
For the record I don’t believe gun control could ever work in America either.. But both left and right need to stop being so extreme and everyone needs to stop manipulating words to suit themselves. ..I know the left is really flexing its nonsense muscle lately …But the right has had its share too.
