Rand Paul Rips Walker As “part Of The Problem”

Kentucky Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul has slammed Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in response to recent remarks by the Governor regarding Washington politicians. Paul replied in a interview by the Associated Press, alleging that “part of problem we have is career politicians like Scott Walker.” “Has he ever had a job outside of politics? He was running for office when he was in college. I’m not going to be lectured by a career politician, that’s for sure,” Paul continued. This marks the first time in the presidential campaign that Senator Paul has attacked Governor Walker, and Walker is expected to respond in the coming days. While Paul, a physician, had performed eye surgery at his own practice for over 18 years before going into politics, many of his 2016 rivals, including Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, have served as politicians throughout their working lives. FEC: We Do Not Have a Filing Indicating Rand Paul Is Running

UPDATE: The FEC confirmed to CNBC that this filing relates to an earlier report by a pro-Rand Super PAC, and that Rand Paul has indeed not yet filed to run for President. A spokesman for the Rand Paul campaign later affirmed this statement. ORIGINAL POST: Though Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has yet to make an official announcement of his candidacy for President, and is widely expected to do so at an event in Louisville on April 7, he has made the decision to preemptively file with the Federal Election Commission as a Republican candidate for President of the United States, according to the Washington Examiner. This early announcement could possibly be motivated by the rumors that Rand, unlike most candidates, will not go through an exploratory committee phase in 2016, therefore this early announcement could help generate attention for his likely campaign. Of the more than a dozen prospective rivals Rand will face for the Republican nomination, only Maryland neurosurgeon Ben Carson has thus far filed to run in 2016, though several are… Keep Reading

The Cuban Challenge For All Americans

If we are to open up relations with Cuba we must do so with the intent of bringing the information age to all Cubans. That means insisting the Internet be made available to all Cubans, just as it is available to the Castro elites, the Pope, and Mr. Obama who all want new formalized relations. Cuba is a museum of two profound failures: the complete failure of communism to improve the quality of life for all Cubans, despite all it stole on behalf of the poor; and the second miserable failure of the US embargo to end Castro’s anti-American  communism and his murderous regime. Yet, the primary reason for our rapprochement with the island nation just 90 miles from the Florida shore, is to protect our Gulf-area sea lanes and the New Orleans port to the Mississippi River. Our shipping of fuel, agriculture, and material commerce up the Mississippi River to Canada fuels nearly half our national GNP and job markets. The Mississippi as well as the Gulf area… Keep Reading

End The Wrong-Headed War On Drugs

The great debate on the effectiveness of the War on Drugs has emerged and caused tremendous angst to big government social conservatives. We are told by authorities that violent crime, rape, and murder will become the norm if marijuana is legalized. While libertarians question the effectiveness of spending $45,000 a year to put a non-violent drug offender behind bars for 5-20 years. That’s right. The War on Drugs requires us to pay salaries, benefits and pensions to law enforcement, the prison system, the judiciary, and myriad other personnel. It’s cheaper to send these drug offenders to Harvard. Yet libertarians are misguided if we think society will tolerate irresponsible behavior. There are two sides to freedom. One is our right to privacy, the other is personal responsibility. It is interesting to note that many conservative icons associated with morality and civic virtue have called for the decriminalization or the complete legality of smoking marijuana. They include Sarah Palin, who says, “What people do in the privacy of their own living… Keep Reading
