As Hillary Remains Free, Attorney General Jeff Sessions Focuses On Failed Drug War

When Donald Trump was campaigning for President last year, thousands of Americans chanted “LOCK HER UP!” throughout the country referring to his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Once elected, Trump supporters expected Attorney General Jeff Sessions to follow the campaign’s mandate and proceed to investigate Clinton for her e-mails, Libyan war crimes, and other atrocities she has committed over the years.

Instead of fulfilling the Trump mandate, Sessions has gone rogue. He is pursuing his decades-long fetish of marijuana prohibition and working feverishly with the intent of doubling-down on possibly the most destructive policy in modern American history: the federal drug war.

“Task Force subcommittees will also undertake a review of existing policies in the areas of charging, sentencing, and marijuana to ensure consistency with the Department’s overall strategy on reducing violent crime and with Administration goals and priorities,” Sessions wrote in a memo back in April.

Sessions has his underlings on President Trump’s Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety working to create a tenuous link between marijuana use and violent crime, which has been waning in recent decades even as marijuana has proliferated across the country. Sessions has already indicated that civil asset forfeiture will be used aggressively by his Justice Department.

The task force is expected to release a report this week calling for the bolstered enforcement of marijuana prohibition at the federal level. This has ticked off individuals close to President Trump, including his frequent golf buddy Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and long-time confidant Roger Stone.

“I will oppose anybody from the administration or otherwise that wants to interfere with state policy,” Paul said to The Hill last week.

Stone, a notorious political dirty trickster who has been great friends with Trump since the 1980’s, is a self-described libertarian and proponent of legalized marijuana. He believes that Sessions is betraying the spirit of the Trump revolution by doubling-down on prohibition.

“In all honesty, it’s time for [Trump] to tell Attorney General Jeff Sessions to cut the sh-t,” Stone said to Business Insider last month. He is working on a new bipartisan coalition to lobby President Trump to be in favor of marijuana legalization.

Recent reports have indicated that Trump is souring on Sessions, who was picked as AG for his hawkish stance on immigration. Sessions recused himself from federal investigations regarding Russia, refuses to prosecute Clinton and apparent criminals of the Obama administration, and remains obsessively focused on the drug war. It might be time for Trump to finally put this old drug warrior out to pasture.

  • It is despicable and appalling that Sessions is focusing on drugs instead of bringing the criminal Clintons to justice. Disgusting.

    • Trump said he was not going after the Clintions in fact not Sessions.

    • Upholding the rule of law is Sessions’ responsibility. His failure to bring the criminal Clintons to justice is disgraceful.

  • Turns out he is the wrong man for the wrong job and may be the poison pill that brings Trump down.

  • Btw the Allies are attacking at Calaies….

  • He needs to go. I anticipate his resignation soon.

  • Entire Clinton mafia and previous Administration needs to be indicted and locked up…

  • tz1

Sessions concentrating on Ilegal aliens is good, but the rest has little to do with Trump’s promises.
I think he is going after pedophiles, which is also good.
    Civil Forfeiture?
    Marijuana?
He recused himself from Russia and now Mueller is wreaking havoc.
He isn’t investigating Hillary or her minions or any Democrats.

Trump needs to discuss things with him and get him back on the Trump Train tracks. Or find a replacement. I don’t know if Guilani will be better though.

  • My least favorite Trump appointee

  • Never liked him. He is out of touch, don’t understand what is going on in the culture and economy. A real relic. Hope Trump shows him the door. I was surprised Trump had such poor judgement in this appointment. Sometimes you have to look past loyalty.
